The first stage involved the appointment of the general contractor for the operations and maintenance (O&M) base and the start of preparatory works for the construction of the facility. The O&M base will support the long-term functioning and servicing of the BC-Wind offshore wind farm, playing a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the project for decades to come. The objective of the quayside modernisation in Władysławowo is to adapt the existing infrastructure to the requirements of specialised Crew Transfer Vessels, which are used during the construction, supervision and subsequent servicing of offshore wind farm. The scope of works will include, among others, repairs to the quayside surface, modernisation of the mooring infrastructure and preparation of the quayside to handle vessels operating for the needs of the project.

The appointment of Hydrobudowa Gdańsk is in line with Ocean Winds’ consistent approach to developing the local supply chain in Poland. The company is a Polish enterprise with many years of experience in marine civil engineering, port and infrastructure works. Its involvement in the BC-Wind project strengthens the role of domestic competences in preparing the infrastructure necessary for the development of offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea. The modernization of the quayside in Władysławowo will further strengthen the local operational infrastructure that will support the project during the construction phase and throughout the decades of its operation.

Kacper Kostrzewa, Managing Director for Poland at Ocean Winds, said: “Offshore wind requires not only turbines and offshore infrastructure, but also properly prepared ports, logistics facilities and partners who understand the specifics of working in a demanding offshore environment. We are pleased that this scope will be delivered by a Polish company with extensive experience in marine civil engineering and port projects. This is another example of how the development of BC-Wind translates into the involvement of domestic contractors and the strengthening of local competences in the offshore wind sector.”

Jarosław Flont, President of the Management Board at Hydrobudowa Gdańsk, commented: “We are pleased that Ocean Winds has decided to collaborate with local contractors and has recognized the expertise of companies that have been involved in the region for many years. Hydrobudowa built a significant portion of the port infrastructure in Władysławowo, which is why the opportunity to participate in the modernization of the quayside is of particular importance to us. For our long-time employees, this is a source of pride and confirmation that the experience we’ve built up over the years is now being recognized in the implementation of such an important project.”

One of the key elements of the investment will be the installation of a modern port crane. The equipment will increase the operational capabilities of the quayside and improve the handling of vessels used in the offshore wind sector. Delivery of the crane is planned for the first quarter of 2027, and its installation will be carried out as part of the works performed by the general contractor.
The quayside will play an important role both during the construction phase and the subsequent operational phase of the BC-Wind farm. During the implementation of the project, two Ocean Winds vessels supervising construction works will be able to operate from the port, while in the operational phase one CTV unit is expected to be serviced there. The distance between the port and the wind farm area is approximately 20 nautical miles, with an estimated transit time of around 70 minutes.

The works at the quayside are planned to begin in the third quarter of 2026 and are expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2027. The investment represents another step in building infrastructure that will support the implementation and long-term operation of offshore wind energy projects in Poland.

The BC-Wind offshore wind farm is Ocean Winds’ first project in the Baltic Sea. Located approximately 23 km off the Polish coast, the project will comprise 26 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines with a planned total capacity of up to 390 MW. The installation will be able to provide renewable energy to nearly half a million Polish households annually.

Full Press Release: >> LINK <<

Ocean Winds has appointed Hydrobudowa Gdańsk as the general contractor for works related to the adaptation of part of the port infrastructure in Władysławowo to support the BC-Wind offshore wind farm project.
