The first monopiles for the Ocean Winds\u2019s BC-Wind offshore wind farm have arrived at the port of \u015awinouj\u015bcie, marking the start of logistical preparations for their installation in the Baltic Sea. This is also the first time that Polish port infrastructure has been used to handle a delivery of foundations of this type.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivery of monopile foundations for the BC-Wind offshore wind farm has arrived at \u015awinouj\u015bcie Offshore Terminal, which Ocean Winds began leasing in September this year. This marks an important milestone in the project\u2019s implementation and a significant moment for Poland\u2019s offshore wind sector. For the first time, foundations of this scale have been received at a Polish installation port, demonstrating the potential of the country\u2019s port infrastructure to handle offshore wind projects in the Baltic Sea involving complex logistical operations. Polish companies, including businesses from Western Pomerania, are involved in preparing the terminal to receive the monopiles and handling the delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pete Geddes, BC-Wind Project Director, said:<\/strong> \u201cReceiving the first monopiles at a Polish port is an important milestone in the implementation of the BC-Wind project and another step forward in the development of Poland\u2019s offshore wind energy sector. Handling oversized structures requires precise coordination and efficient organisation of port operations. We are pleased to involve Polish companies in these activities, while also creating opportunities to gain hands-on experience and develop the expertise of local teams, thereby supporting the growth of the domestic supply chain. We are confident that the experience gained through projects of this kind will prove valuable in future offshore wind developments\u201d
Szczecin-based company Dynpap will be responsible for a wide range of services involving monopiles and transition pieces (TPs), as well as supporting their unloading and loading operations at \u015awinouj\u015bcie Offshore Terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another company involved in preparing the terminal is Team Project, headquartered in Modrzewie which will carry out work to prepare the ground to ensure it is suitable for unloading the foundation structures, as well as maintain and repair the terminal\u2019s surface during subsequent transport operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundations will be transported within the terminal using a self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT), designed to carry oversized loads. Given the weight and dimensions of the monopiles, transport operations using SPMTs require the port infrastructure to be adequately protected with steel plates. The Polish company MAG Offshore, with its headquarters in Gdynia, will be responsible for delivering these plates to the installation port.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The monopiles will be temporarily stored at \u015awinouj\u015bcie Offshore Terminal, where they will be prepared for transportation and subsequent offshore installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
